I sit here... | Tuesday Slice

I sit here
a hen on her nest
incubating ideas
then hatching them
one by one
Sometimes it
takes a while
to see them grow
and sometimes I blink my eyes and they're gone
taking wobbly steps
out into the world
Sometimes they come back
begging for more
I oblige
never one to turn down an opportunity to fluff
and preen
never one to miss the chance to nurse
just a little bit longer
and hold tight to the potential for what will come
be it lengthy or sparse
verbose or exacting
We work together to figure it out
in this sun-drenched roost
surrounded by antiques
photographs
soothing music
and chai in the perfect polka dot mug
I sit here

Write on,
b

  4. A glimpse into the world of one incredibly creative writer. However, I must say, that chair does not look like it would be comfortable for long periods of time. Chai is a nice touch. Now I will picture this scene every time I read your post. :-)

    1. That's part of this chair's charm -- I don't get too comfortable (because I've been known to fall asleep sitting up!). Thanks for your kind words, Elsie. :)

  5. Lovely! Our ideas do take time to percolate - this was a great way to capture the imagining and thinking that goes before the writing process.

  6. So fun to see your nest! I went back to check out the polka dot mug, but I love all the things surrounding you in your sun-drenched roost.

    1. Thanks, Ramona! Yes...the iridescent polka dots didn't translate through the overlay I added to the picture in my Pixler app. :( Have a super day!
