My seventh slice-of-life story...

State Fair snack booth signage...

Fried is nice; fried is better
But sometimes, fried is just fried.

Who knows how to fry Kool-Aid?

French fries,
onion rings and string cheese,
chicken on a stick,
mushrooms, pickles, pizza, pie
donuts, peppers, chips

Fried foods down the midway,
fried foods in the car,
fried foods in the pantry,
fried foods are the star.

Fish filets,
bologna,
Snickers candy bars,
butter, Oreos, Twinkies,
the tenderloin, by far

Fried foods down the midway,
fried foods in the car,
fried foods in the pantry,
fried foods are the star.

But, Kool-Aid?

(I'm still trying to figure this one out!)

Write on,
b

  1. Wow...the stuff they come up with. Who fries butter? Did you end up trying anything?

Loved the use of the alliteration!

  2. No! I still can't believe it. We went before my toddler's afternoon nap and it was time to leave (if you know what I mean) before any snacks were had. I would've tried the Oreos though :). Maybe next year...

  3. cute poem! I saw the fried Kool-Aid stand too (are you from Ohio?) and was equally intrigued/baffled! I did try some fried Buckeyes though and they were delicious!!! :-)

  4. Did they really have fried Kool-Aid? I also have heard of fried twinkies. Oh my! Your poem certainly gets us in the mood of a state fair moment. Just the rhythm of jaunting down the line of all those booths takes us there. There's nothing else like it!

  5. Fun poem! You have most definitely put me in the mood for fried something. (Although fried Kool Aid, would not be my first choice. :))
